Yes, thats right. This page has been around since August 1997.
It was actually started before Second Solution - Prisoner of Society came out.
The Living End are a three piece punk/rock-a-billy group from Melbourne. They've been around for a long time, and started off playing lots of gigs with bands such as the Fireballs, and so have been contantly been compared to them. As the guitarist Chris Cheney said, they don't see why really, as the Fireballs are a lot heavier then them, and so he puts it down to the slightly similar hair-do's and the up-right double base.
The original line up for the Living End, and indeed for most of they're career was
This line up continued until just after the recording of their popular release,
It's for your own good, when they replaced Joey with the affectionally known TRAV, better known as Travis Dempsey. Joey moved on and is now the Drummer for another local act, H-Block, who have been supported by the Living End at their CD launch. The Living End now have 4 releases out,
Hellbound, recorded in '94-'95, found both with either 8 or 9 songs. The next release is It's for your own good, recorded in June '96, and released early '97, with 6 songs on it, one being a Cure cover of 10:15 Saturday Night. This greatly increased they're popularity with the song From here on in, which got a lot of air play on radio stations such as triple J and triple R.The Living End then released the fenominally successful E.P.,
second solution-prisoner of society. Many people who have seen the Living End beofre this was released should remember Second Solution as they have been playing it at live gigs for a while, and Prisoner of Society apears to be a brand new song written on the road. The E.P. also contains one cover, Prisoner on the Inside, written by Allen Caswell, and might be better known to those of the older generation as the theme from Prisoner. The biggest release is their debut CD,
the Living End. This was release on the 12th of October 1998, being preceeded by the single of Save the Day, which was release a few week before on the 21st of Setember. One of the big breaks for the Living End came in '96, when they supported Green Day on their Australian tour. This exposed them to a whole new market of people who wouldn't have heard them otherwise. It was very soon after this that It's for your own good was recorded.
The Living End can be for playing around Melbourne in such places as the Esplanade Hotel, the Punters Club, and the Tote. They often play with bands such as Loin Groin, Area 7, and H-Block, as well as supporting Overseas acts such as Green Day and Blink 182.
